Formians look like giant ants, they have a thorax that looks chisiled from rock, thin arms and legs, and an soft abdomen. They stand on their four rear legs and the front arms have two thicker fingers and a thumb. They’re slighty shorter than the average human standing at 5 and a half feet tall, and weigh about 175lbs. A Formian’s head is shaped like a typical ants including pincers, and a tongue capable of speaking any language, including the sinewy language of magic. It has antennae, that allow it to “meld” itself with allies, and usually bald with short dark fur around the antnnae. A Formian’s eye color ranges from black to gold, silver, and even read. A Formian’s body generally is a solid color… black, brown, red, yellowish gold, or orange.
A Formian’s life span is not near that of a human. They reach development equivalent of an 18 year old human by the age of 1 and full adulthood by 2. Formian live on average 7 to 12 years. There are only male Formian, the only females are queens.
Playing a Formian
When the world was created and the Hive Queen Duriel burrowed herself into the depths her first spawn were the Formian. Through the following centuries the formian burrowed throughout the world and grew great as a race, though they were always connected to the Hive Queen’s hivemind. Though connected to the hive, occasionally a formian is able to break free and obtain its own free will. When this happens they are permanently severed from the hive, and other hive connected formians will attack immediately upon noticing the absence of their voice from the hive. Dwarves especially hate formians because a great number of their mines have been lost to infiltration.
